With the abundance of safety technology out there in today's market, many vehicle owners overlook one of the most important parts of our vehicles that undeniably keeps us safe; the tyres.
October is National Tyre Safety Month an initiative created by TyreSafe which reminds drivers"Safe tyres, save lives." In recognition of this TyreSafe encourage motorists "Don't ignore your tyres, check them once a month."
Cars are by far the most common vehicles on Britain’s roads so it’s no surprise they are involved in the highest number of tyre-related incidents. Simple maintenance can help avoid a large proportion of these incidents and keep drivers and other road users safer.
The simplest way to check the tread depth on your vehicle is to use the 20p test. A handy method which has been adopted by drivers across the UK, a way for you to check your tyres any time, anywhere - no excuses.
All you need to do is place a 20p coin into the main tread grove of your tyre - if you can't see the outer band of the coin the tyre has plenty of tread left, if the band is visible it's time to consider having the tyre replaced. Watch the video below to see how easy it really is.
We want to ensure that you're always safe when behind the wheel. For your safety it's vital that your tyres are in good condition. If your Renault's tyres become worn, grip is reduced and stopping distances increase. If wear becomes excessive, you could be breaking the law. Worn tyres risk fines of up to £2,500 and three penalty points on your license.
Don't worry if you are unsure on carrying out the 20p test yourself, this month we are encouraging our Bennett Renault customers to get their tyres checked free of charge at our centre.
